How to Add a Link to Your LinkedIn Profile

October 08, 2026

Learn how to add a link to your LinkedIn profile, compare Contact info, Featured links and custom buttons, and connect visitors with your business.

To add a link to your LinkedIn profile, start with the website fields in Contact info. You can also feature an external resource, while the prominent custom button has separate subscription and availability requirements. Choose the placement that matches what you want potential clients to do.

These instructions concern your personal profile, which you might use as a founder or consultant. A company Page has different controls.

Add a link to your LinkedIn profile through Contact info

LinkedIn supports up to three websites in this section. On a computer:

  1. Open your profile from the account menu.
  2. Select Contact info, then its edit control.
  3. Choose the option to add a website.
  4. Paste the complete destination address and select its website type.
  5. Save, reopen the section, and test the link.

On mobile, open your profile, edit the introduction, and find the contact-information editor. LinkedIn documents both routes in its website-link instructions.

Use the public address of your service page, portfolio, or bio page. An editor URL that works while you are signed in may fail for a visitor.

Use Featured for a resource worth highlighting

A portfolio or service guide can benefit from context beyond a bare address. From your profile, open the section-adding menu, expand Recommended, and choose Add Featured. Then add an external link and follow the prompts to save it.

LinkedIn's Featured setup guide explains the available content types. Give the resource a specific title, such as “Office design projects,” instead of “Learn more.”

There is a visibility limit to understand: viewers must be signed in to LinkedIn to see Featured content, according to its Featured section FAQ. Test it from another member's account; do not assume someone outside LinkedIn sees the same presentation.

Check eligibility before looking for a custom button

LinkedIn currently limits custom buttons to a selected group of Premium Business, Sales Navigator, and Recruiter Lite subscribers. Check availability in your account before purchasing a subscription specifically for this placement.

If the option appears, open the custom-button control in your profile introduction, choose the relevant label, enter your destination, and finish saving. LinkedIn also warns that adding or editing this button replaces services previously added through the profile-section control. Review that tradeoff first in the custom-button documentation.

Older tutorials can be misleading. LinkedIn has removed the hyperlink option associated with Creator Mode, so instructions relying on that feature no longer describe the current route.

Connect several business resources through one destination

Imagine a consultant who offers workshops, advisory sessions, and a downloadable planning guide. Sending everyone to a booking calendar may skip information they need before requesting a meeting.

A bio page could offer three clearly named choices: workshop details, advisory services, and the guide. Nexlab Bio currently includes up to five links, a photo, a description, and social links in its free plan.

Use that page when visitors have several sensible next steps. For a profile focused entirely on one service, a direct service-page link may be enough. If the offer needs a fuller explanation, explore Nexlab websites for businesses.

Before sharing, ask someone to find a specific resource from your profile. Check that each destination opens on a phone, explains the promised offer, and provides a working way to contact you. Correct confusing labels before adding more links.

Frequently asked questions

Can I add a website without LinkedIn Premium?

Yes. Use Contact info for website links. The custom button has separate eligibility requirements.

Why is my LinkedIn custom button missing?

It may not be available for your subscription or account. Check LinkedIn's current requirements instead of following old Creator Mode instructions.

Can I put several business links in my profile?

Contact info supports three websites. A bio page can collect additional destinations behind one shared address.

Will people without LinkedIn see my Featured links?

They must sign in to view Featured content. Share your destination directly when someone needs access outside LinkedIn.

Give profile visitors a useful next step

When you add a link to your LinkedIn profile, match its placement to the visitor's task. Create your page in Nexlab Bio, connect the resources clients need, and test the complete journey before promoting it.
